Country: Bolivia
Duration:
11:00 hours
Description
Travel back in time with this excursion to Pulacayo where we will visit the historic train museum and the town of Tomave to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Altiplano.
We will pick you up at your hotel in Uyuni at the indicated time to head to Pulacayo, located just 10 kilometers from the city.
This small city still preserves the old iron locomotives that look like something out of a western movie and that were used to transport the silver extracted from the mines. Do you remember the thieves Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid? During the tour we will remember their legendary train assaults and the history that links them to this place.
As we walk through this open-air train museum, we will see how time has stopped in this place and we will learn about the importance of Pulacayo's mining wealth, which represented great economic development for the entire country at the beginning of the 20th century.
After exploring Pulacayo, we will head towards Tomave, a city that stands out for its monumental colonial church and its rugged landscapes. We will now continue towards the Tomave hot springs in the middle of the characteristic environment of the Altiplano of the central region of Bolivia.
Our next stop? The green Warmy Kasilla lagoon and the blue Orqo Kasilla lagoon. These natural sites are located almost five thousand meters above sea level. It will be a memorable visit!
After 10 or 11 hours touring Pulacayo, we will return to Uyuni and drop you off at your hotel.
