Explore the Salar de Uyuni and its surroundings on a 3-day tour with transportation, meals, and an English-speaking guide. See the Salar, Laguna Colorada, Incahuasi Island, deserts, and much more.
Day 1: Start your tour at 10:30am with a drive to the Salar de Uyuni. The first stop is the eerie “Train Cemetery” which is located just outside of Uyuni. Then visit the small settlement of Colchani (salt miners’ workshops next to the salt flat), there you will also find crafts made from salt, and textile art made from llama and alpaca wool. These are great souvenirs to take home. Take photos as you cruise through the vast white expanse of salt, wade through the “Ojos de Agua Salada” (Eyes of Salt Water), visit also: a hotel made entirely of salt that is currently used as a museum-restaurant, Flags of the World (where you can bring your own and put it there for free) and a Dakar Race Monument. After a morning of exploring, lunch will be served on the way, after that you will have time to hike to the top of Incahuasi Island to see giant cacti and rock formations made of petrified coral. Next, take time to organize your group to take fun photos distorting perspective and proportion, on the blinding white surface of the salt flat, playing with the scene, you are sure to take fun and memorable photos! Finally, head to a large area to live the unique experience of seeing a beautiful sunset over the salt flat, spreading its dazzling colors throughout the Salar de Uyuni, and enjoy it with a glass of wine. Accommodation: Agencha Hostel: 3, 4, 5 and 6 bed rooms + shared toilets. / no Wi-Fi.
Day 2: Departure at 6:30 am for breakfast. First stop, the Chiguana desert, on the south side of the Uyuni salt flat, surrounded by volcanoes such as the Ollagüe, which is still active and can be seen from the viewpoint. Then, continue along the rocky path to visit: Cañapa, Hedionda and Chiarcota lagoons where you can see flamingos. After lunch, enter the “Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve”, visit the Siloli Desert (the highest and driest desert in the world), and take a photo next to the “Rock Tree” (a lava rock formation). Before reaching the final destination, stop at the Laguna Roja viewpoint to see more pink flamingos in their natural habitat and admire this deep red lake. Accommodation: Huayllajara Hostel, 6-bed dormitories + shared bathrooms, no hot water (to protect the national park) / no Wi-Fi.
Day 3: Start early, around 5:00 am, to visit the Sol de Mañana Geyser and walk next to fumaroles and steaming craters filled with boiling mud pots. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to take a bath in an open-air hot spring with water at 35 Cº. The next places to see are the Dali Desert and the Green and White Lagoon. Then, return to Uyuni passing through beautiful landscapes along the way and having a PICNIC lunch on the side of the road. Along the way,pass through the Valley of the Rocks and make a short stop in the village of San Cristobal for a bathroom break. Arrive in Uyuni town between 17:45 and 18:45. This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
