train cemetery. Later we go to the community of Colchani, in this place we will observe the salt process, we will be able to visit shops with salt crafts and wool fabrics.
We meet at the meeting point at 10:30 am, as the first point, we visit the train cemetery, (where we will observe locomotives from the 1870s of English and French origin), we will have time to take photos according to the instructions from the guide. Later we go to the community of Colchani, in this place we will observe the salt process, we will be able to visit shops with salt crafts and wool, llama and alpaca fabrics.
Then we continue the route towards the Gran Salar de Uyuni, it is the largest salt desert in the world. It is the legacy of a prehistoric lake that dried up and left a desert landscape of almost 11,000 square km of bright white salt, rock formations and cactus islands. During some times of the year (December to March), the nearby lakes overflow and a thin layer of water transforms this plain into a beautiful reflection of the sky, the endless horizon that allows you to play with the perspective and depth of field of the Photographs. You can create battle scenes between toy dinosaurs, pretend to cook your friends in pots and pans, or pretend to come out of a seemingly huge jam jar.
In the Salar de Uyuni we will see the piles of salt and its extraction, Ojos de Sal, Hotel del Sal (it is one of the first hotels that was built in the Salar, now it is a museum), we see a group of flags left by different tourists and later we will arrive at the famous Incahuasi Island that has gigantic cacti ranging from one to ten meters in height that grow one centimeter per year. We reach the top and see a panoramic landscape of the entire salt flat. We will have lunch in the middle of the Salar de Uyuni that is included. On the way back we will have time to take the famous perspective photos (you can ask the guide to take the photos), you will have time to take a walk of about 20 minutes in the Salt Flats and on our return to Uyuni we will see the sunset.
