Description

Allow yourself to be captivated by one of the most impressive sceneries in Bolivia: the Salar de Uyuni.
The tour begins with a visit to the Train Cemetery, where you will find the remains of old railroad engines dating from the late nineteenth century. Then, after 30 minutes, you will arrive at the small town of Colchani, where you can observe the salt extraction process. If you are interested in buying handicrafts made with salt or textiles, or llama or alpaca wool products, this is a good place to do so. Afterwards, you will head to Uyuni, where the majestic Salar de Uyuni, which covers more than 10,000 square kilometers, awaits you. Inside the salt flat you will see the Pilas de Sal, small salt pyramids that the locals create to dry and process the salt, and the Ojos del Salar, natural conduits that allow salt water to pass through and end in holes. You will also visit the first and only Salt Hotel, which now functions as a museum. Finally, you will continue to Incahuasi Island, where you can admire gigantic cacti, rock formations of petrified coral and an impressive panoramic view of the Salar.
