Adventure Day: Puno to La Paz and Tiwanaku
We will start our day very early, with pick up at your hotel around 4:00 am. We will depart for the border between Peru and Bolivia at Desaguadero, where we will cross and continue our journey to La Paz. After about 4 hours of travel, we will arrive in this vibrant city and begin our guided tour of the charming colonial quarter, highlighting the Avenida 16 de Julio and Avenida Mariscal Gamarra.
Next, we will enter the historic center, where we will admire the majestic Neoclassical Cathedral of Our Lady of La Paz, located near Plaza Murillo. You will have free time to enjoy a lunch of your choice at one of the local restaurants.
After refueling, we will explore the Santo Domingo Convent and the famous Witches Market, known for its curiosities and traditions.
Our next stop will be the impressive archaeological site of Tiwanaku. There, we will unveil the secrets of one of the most important pre-Columbian cultures of Bolivia. We will visit emblematic sites such as the temple of Kalasasaya, the Akapana pyramid and the iconic Sun Gate. You will also have the opportunity to observe the queros (ceremonial vessels) and the walls decorated with human figures, known as huaco-portraits.
At the end of this fascinating tour, you will have gained an in-depth understanding of Bolivia's rich culture and heritage. After a day full of discoveries, we will return to Peru by bus, arriving in Puno between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. Get ready for an unforgettable day!.
