Day 01: Arrival in Paro and Transfer to Thimphu
Arrive at Paro airport, where you’ll be greeted and driven to Thimphu. En route, admire the 14th-century Iron Bridge. In Thimphu, visit the grand Buddha Dordenma statue, explore the interactive Simply Bhutan museum, and discover local crafts at the Authentic Craft Bazaar. Experience the grandeur of Tashichhodzong, the capital fortress. Enjoy dinner and overnight in Thimphu.
Day 02: Thimphu to Punakha
After breakfast, drive to Punakha, crossing the scenic Dochula Pass. Weather permitting, enjoy views of the Himalayan ranges and explore the 108 stupas. Visit Chimi Lhakhang, a fertility temple with unique art, and the stunning Punakha Dzong. Walk across Bhutan’s longest suspension bridge. Overnight in Punakha.
Day 03: Punakha to Bumthang (via Trongsa)
Drive to Bumthang, passing lush landscapes and the historic Trongsa Dzong. Enjoy a brief walk in Chendebji Village and cross Yotong La Pass, with views of Mt. Jomolhari on clear days. Overnight in Bumthang.
Day 04: Bumthang Sightseeing
Explore Bumthang’s highlights: Jambey Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, and Kurjey Lhakhang, known for its spiritual significance. Hike to Tamshing Lhakhang and visit the Bumthang Swiss cheese factory and dairy farm. Stroll around town. Overnight in Bumthang.
Day 05: Bumthang to Phobjikha/Gangtey Valley
Drive to the picturesque Phobjikha Valley, a winter home for black-necked cranes. Visit Gangtey Monastery, renowned for its architecture and paintings, and enjoy a nature trail with stunning valley views. Overnight in Gangtey Valley.
Day 06: Phobjikha to Paro
Return to Paro and visit the National Museum, Paro Dzong, and Kichu Lhakhang, the country’s oldest temple. Explore the old town, shop for local handicrafts, and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Paro.
Day 07: Tiger’s Nest Monastery Hike or Chelela Pass Excursion
Hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery, perched on a cliff, or opt for a day trip to Chelela Pass for breathtaking views of Mt. Jomolhari and a beautiful drive. Return to Paro for a leisurely evening. Overnight in Paro.
Day 08: Departure
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight, taking with you cherished memories of Bhutan’s serene landscapes and cultural richness.
