The Museum is everything a lover of art and history could wish for. It takes you on a journey through history and around the world, beginning with archaeological discoveries from the birth of mankind, via ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, the middle ages, the 16th to 18th centuries, culminating with the art nouveau and art deco of the early 20th century. In addition to the vast Belgian and European collections are treasures from civilisations from Asia and America.
The Royal museum of Art and History is one of the largest Belgian museums. It is located at the Parc du Cinquantenaire in a beautiful classic building. The artefacts are divided amongst for groups:
- The ancient history including Egypt, Greece and Rome
- The national archeology including prehistory
- European decorative arts from 10th till 20th century
- Non-European civilisations including Islamic world, India and China

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Please note that the entrance is not located next to Autoworld but on the other side of the building. You will need to walk around the corner and follow the signs to the entrance.
Train: The nearest stations are Merode and Schuman (within walking distance of the Museum) or Central Station (metro connection to the Art & History Museum).
Metro: The nearest station is ‘Schuman’.
Bus: 22, 27, 80: stop at ‘Galliërs’; 61: stop at ‘Merode’
Tram: 81, 82: stop at ‘Merode’
When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
Cancellation is not possible. If you cancel it anyway or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity and the money you paid will not be refunded.
