This tour will take you on a journey 2000 years back in time as you explore the "first Salzburg" its Roman temple, forum, and market hall. At the end of the tour, we will enjoy a "Roman snack".
2000 years ago, Salzburg was a Roman town. Still today, you find some traces and residues of this thriving city called Iuvavum. It was an important site and the junction of many highways of the Roman Empire.
During your tour you will see some Roman excavations from the 1990s in the Abbey of St. Peter, not normally open to the public, you will have access to the new exhibition as the doors to the Abbey will be open to you to explore.
Furthermore, you will see a Roman wall, a reconstruction of a heating system from the antique times and an original 1900 years-old tombstone from the former mayor of Iuvavum. The end of the tour will be a "Roman snack", a tasting of original Roman cuisine, freshly prepared.
