Built in 1900 and recognised as one of the finest preserved steam railways in the world, Puffing Billy continues to travel on its original mountain track between Belgrave and Gembrook, Puffing Billy offers traditional train journeys, first-class wine and dine experiences and so much more to explore off the tracks.
Discover the new state-of-the-art facility set in the scenic surrounds of Emerald Lake Park. The new Lakeside Visitor Centre enhances the Puffing Billy experience, featuring a café, function room, significantly upgraded facilities, extensive retail, dining options, and interpretation spaces for you to enjoy.

• Children under the age of 4 travel for free when not occupying a seat however will still need to be included in booking ticket count
• Please note there are limited wheelchair spaces available on board the heritage carriages. Please contact the activity provider by phone to make the necessary arrangements
• Sitting on the carriage sill is only permitted between Belgrave Station & Lakeside Station
• Trains will not be canceled due to inclement weather
• Guide/Assistance dogs are the only dogs permitted on the train
• Puffing Billy is open every day besides Christmas Day (25 December)
• Due to the heritage nature of the carriages, only folded on narrow prams can fit through the narrow carriage doors
When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
