Day 1: Arrival in Bale Mountains:
Upon arrival at the park Headquarters, take a leisurely afternoon hike to explore the area. Keep an eye out for endemic mammals like Menelik’s Bushbuck and the Mountain Nyala. The diverse birdlife here includes species like the Abyssinian Long Claw and the Wattled Ibis. Enjoy a 2-3 hour hike before settling in for overnight camping at 3000 masl.
Day 2: Trekking from Dinsho to Sodota:
Embark on a hike from Dinsho, entering the Bale Mountains National Park. Traverse stunning landscapes and keep watch for the rare Ethiopian Wolves and birds of prey. Take a refreshing break at Habera waterfall before continuing to Sodota Campsite for overnight. Expect a 20 km hike at an elevation of 3,500 masl.
Day 3: Trekking from Sodota to Adeley:
After breakfast, head towards Adeley, passing through the scenic Web Valley area and the woodland section of the national park. Look out for the elusive Ethiopian Wolf, the Giant Mole Rat, and other endemic bird species along the 18 km hike. Overnight at Adeley campsite, located at an elevation of 3,400 masl.
Day 4: Hike Down to Dinsho:
Start the day with a morning hike down to Dinsho, lasting about 2 hours. Pass through Hygenia and Juniper tree forests, spotting wildlife such as Olive Baboons, Menelik’s Bushbuck, Mountain Nyala, Bohor Reedbuck, and various bird species along the way.
