First you will visit Geghard which is a medieval monastery declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. According to tradition The Geghard Monastery was founded by Saint Gregory in the 4th century on the site of a sacred spring. The current constructions of the monastery, which are partially excavated in the rock, date from the 13th century. The peculiar character of the construction is reflected in its austerity and the magnificent natural scenery of the canyon, surrounded by precipices and curved cliffs.
Next visit is Garni Temple, the only preserved pagan temple in the entire territory of the Caucasus. The construction dates back to the second half of the 1st century and was dedicated to the Sun God. After the Christianization of Armenia, the temple was used as a royal residence.
Drive to Tsaghkadzor, a ski resort of Armenia, where you will take the cable car and rise up to the top, from where the magnificent atmosphere and spectacular nature of Tsaghkadzor unfolds. From December to March the resort town transforms into a winter wonderland attracting hundreds of nature lovers and adrenaline junkies. The highlight of Tsakhkadzor is a world-class skiing resort. It has a ropeway and slopes offering opportunities for both beginners and seasoned skiers. The breathtaking views of snow-covered peaks come as a bonus. Skiing, snowboarding or just going up the ropeway to enjoy the scenery are among the beloved tourist activities in winter.
The town itself stretching amid the mountains has a lot of calm and cozy cafes and restaurants to enjoy your trip. Thus, the journey promises much fun if you are seeking an adrenaline rush or lunch at a mountainside café with panoramic views.
Moving to Sevan Lake. Visiting Sevanavank. The monastery is made up of two churches dating back to the 9th century. The monastery is located on the peninsula of Lake Sevan which was an island. From the peninsula, there is a beautiful view of Lake Sevan, which is the jewel of Armenia and the second highest freshwater lake in the world.
