The mood at the company party of Sonnenschein Maschinenbau is good, despite recent rumors of a possible sale of the company to China, and gets even better as the evening progresses. Between the buffet, dance floor, and champagne bar, there's exuberant celebration in the establishment by the Werse riverbank, and even the managing director Dr. Kurt-Walter Hogenfeld takes a spin on the dance floor before heading out for a cool-down stroll along the riverbank. Shortly after, his body is found floating in the Werse with a cake knife in his chest. Almost any of the guests present could be the murderer.
