Immerse yourself a tour on the Gatun Lake and visit the Embera indigenous community on a day trip from Panama City.
To start this tour, you will be picked up at central Panama City Hotels and taken to the old Panama Canal Zone. We will go north to the town of Nueva Providencia, located on the remote northeast arm of Gatun Lake. Here we can escape the large crowds of tourist boats found elsewhere on the lake.

We will load into the boat for our exciting ride through the lake and surrounding jungles. Our destination is Gatun Lake, where we will cruise around islands created during the canal construction and see the abundant wildlife on its shores. We will visit the old Monkey Refuge Islands where we can see capuchins, howlers, and tamarins, and spider monkeys up close in their natural habitat.

We will make a stop at the Embera village of Cimarron Paraiso for a cultural exchange with a local indigenous community. Cimarron Paraiso is a small Embera community located at the confluence of the Gatun River and Gatun Lake. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with an indigenous community where they will show you different aspects of their daily life. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE SHOWS WHERE PEOPLE PUT ON COSTUMES AND DANCE FOR TOURISTS! In this unique and interactive visit, the locals will teach you from a variety of new skills. You can choose between activities such as archery, woodcarving, weaving, medicinal plants, cooking, making chicha fuerte (homemade alcohol, age 18+), learning the Embera language, among others.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
