Explore the Temple of Heaven Park, originally known as the "Altar of Heaven and Earth," in Beijing. Admire the largest existing ancient sacrificial architecture complex in China.
Explore the park's 273-hectare area, encircled by two altar walls and divided into the "Inner Altar" and the "Outer Altar." The northern part is circular, and the southern part is square, symbolizing the ancient Chinese belief in a round heaven and square earth.
The park primarily consists of four main ancient architectural complexes: the Altar of Prayer for Good Harvests (for spring prayers), the Circular Mound Altar (for worship on the Winter Solstice), the Palace of Abstinence (where the emperor stayed before ceremonies), and the Divine Music Office (where ceremonial music and rituals were rehearsed).
The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests is the iconic structure of Beijing. The outer altar of the park is planted with a large number of ancient cypress trees.
