Description
A day trip to the historical and cultural city, which holds a special place in the list of UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage and includes the ancient traditions of sericulture.
As soon as you leave the hotel, you will begin a long journey from the foothills of the Caucasus Mountains to the slopes along the Caspian Sea coast. On the 4-hour journey, you will stop twice for a 5-minute coffee break. After 3 hours of conquering the lowland regions of Azerbaijan, you will notice how the semi-desert and dry desert climate is replaced by the subtropical climate.
Our first stop will be the village of Kish, located in the mountains of Sheki, home to one of the oldest churches in the region, the Kish Albanian Temple, and the descendants of the Ancient Caucasian Albanians.
After a half-hour spend here, we will go to the Khan Mosque, the religious center of the Sheki Khans.
After spending 15 minutes in the religious center, our next destination will be the Upper Caravanserai, a beautiful architectural monument that welcomed artisans who were from Shaki and came far eastern countries for Shaki silk in the 18th century.
After a small photo break, we are on our way to the heart of Sheki, the administrative center of Sheki khans, Sheki Fortress.
In the historic center of Sheki, we will visit the pearl of the Caucasus, the architectural wonder of the Sheki Khan Palace, the house of ceramic masters, the Craftsmen's house, the 'Shabaka' workshop, and view the ancient and modern art examples of Sheki artisans.
We will conclude our tour by climbing the slope of the Caucasus Mountains with a breathtaking view of Sheki from the top.
And here we go back to Baku, the largest megalopolis of the region, with a 4-hour time machine.
