Description
Discover the story of Brussels through its street art as you walk you in the footsteps of iconic Surrealist artists like Rene Magritte, Paul Delvaux, and ELT Mesens.
Join a friendly local guide and get an authentic experience of Brussels, visiting an open-air gallery plastered with incredible street art. Explore the city’s urban art scene as you’re led down streets lined with mind-bending murals and quirky comic stores.
Meet your guide at Zuidstation, then make your way down colorful streets to two of the city’s iconic stores – Little Nemo (a neat-freak’s nightmare stacked to the rafters with comics and old toys) and Hors-série, a classy comic store housed in a 19th-century building selling precious first editions and other rarities.
Once you’ve sifted through the piles, make your way to the famous Tintin Comic Mural, a larger-than-life mural of the iconic character decorating the side of an unassuming gift shop.
Head to your next landmark in the city center, Mannekin Pis, a bronze fountain sculpture of a urinating boy designed by Jérôme Duquesnoy the Elder in the early 1600s, then see the statue of literary icon Don Quixote in the Spanish Square.
Spy more street art on your way to Brüsel, one of the city’s oldest comic book stores where you can browse an extensive collection of Harry Potter figurines, and Manga (no prize for guessing what you’ll find at this store). Finally, swivel your head between impressive buildings on Boulevard Simon Bolivar, the city’s bustling central artery where entire walls have been used as canvases.
