Discover the Gobustan National Park and Mud Volcanoes on a guided tour from Baku. Explore the Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape, see the remains of inhabited caves, settlements, and burials, and visit the Mud Volcanoes Museum Complex.
Start your day with pickup from your hotel in Baku. Meet your guide and set off for the Gobustan National Park. Explore the Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape, which covers three areas of a plateau of rocky boulders rising out of the semi-desert of central Azerbaijan.
Admire an outstanding collection of more than 6,000 rock engravings bearing testimony to 40,000 years of rock art. See the remains of inhabited caves, settlements, and burials, all reflecting an intensive human use by the inhabitants of the area during the wet period that followed the last Ice Age, from the Upper Paleolithic to the Middle Ages.
Next, head to the Mud Volcanoes Museum Complex. Azerbaijan takes the first position in the world in terms of the number of mud volcanoes. There are as many as 350 pieces (in the world about 800). The dirt there began to spill out of the ground in this particular place only 50 years ago.
To the East of the Gobustan Museum is a group of active volcanoes Dashgil. Visit and climb up close to the craters of mud volcanoes and watch the bubbling of liquid clay. Enjoy the beautiful landscape, as if you are on the planet Mars.
After sightseeing, your driver will drive you back to the city center or drop you off at meeting place.
