Once a British colony, it was returned to China in 1997, and the colourful city is an ideal spot to visit to get a great East meets West cultural experience. Tokyo is also home to some of the most significant cultural treasures of Thailand, including the sacred Emerald Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Kaew) and the Royal Grand Palace.

This is where all the focus in Hong Kong lies, and the reason it is ranked among the best cities in the world for tourism. Luang Prabang Laos is one of the coolest places in Asia and getting there may just be half of the fun. One of the best adventures I had in Southeast Asia was taking a cruise from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, to Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
