Bratislava offers many kinds of tours and excursions.

The centre of Bratislava is all pastel facades and winding cobbled streets, alive with fairy-tale castles, hipster coffee shops, cool wine bars, and an awesomely relaxed, small-town vibe. The historic centre of Bratislava is extremely picturesque, giving off a feel that I would describe as a little city. Most tourist attractions in Bratislava are located within or immediately outside of the historical centre, which is completely accessible by walking. If walking around the Old Town has worn you out, hop onto a sightseeing city train, which runs around major landmarks in Bratislava, and arrive at the Castle.

Climbing the Old Town Hall and enjoying the most amazing views is one of the best things to do in beautiful city of Bratislava, so visiting both attractions is highly recommended. When you are in Bratislava’s Old Town, you cannot miss the main square -- Hlavne Namestie -- which includes the yard of the old city hall (Stara Radnica) and includes the National Theatre and Saint Martin’s Cathedral.

St. Martins Cathedral in Bratislava is located around 10 minutes from The Old Town, and admittedly, is one-of-a-kind. St Martins Cathedral is a stunningly secular structure (the tallest in Bratislava) that helps to establish a sense of atmosphere before you get onto anything else. Located at the edge of Old Town, St. Martins Cathedral is just a few minutes away from the Castle of Bratislava, which towers over St. Martins Cathedral. Bratislava’s fifteenth-century Gothic Cathedral sits in the shadow of the Castle, and since 1563 has been the church for Slovakia’s coronation, so makes a convenient one-two punch during your sightseeing tour.

Michaels Gate is one of Slovakia’s oldest buildings, and it exemplifies its rich history, located outside of Bratislava. In the past, this unique Michaels Gate was in fact the northern entrance of the wonderful city of Bratislava, and still is a major link with the historical Old Town. The oldest gate of the medieval town, the Michaels Gate was built in the 12th century, it is Bratislava’s oldest remaining fortification.

Another earlier structure in the Old Town is the last remnant of Slovakia’s capitals original quadrilateral medieval gates, which protected the eastern approaches to the city. The tower has a wonderful view over Bratislava, as well as several interesting artworks and historical displays on this city’s defences. From the tower, you can see a lot of Bratislava’s top tourist attractions, including the Castle of Bratislava, UFO Bridge, and Main Square.

Besides its countless styles and architectural influences, the city has many charming historic sightseeing spots that you can check out, with castles, cathedrals, and palaces located along with its magnificent Old Town. The Old Town The historic centre of the city, Old Town contains many of the most significant and impressive landmarks in Bratislava and is the primary destination for all visitors. This museum covers a broad spectrum of human activities -- archaeology, culture, history, the arts, pharmacy, and coins -- so you are sure to find something interesting to see here, all a short walk away from the city’s centre. This museum, located in an ancient city hall, is dedicated to the history of Bratislava from the Neolithic to the 20th century. Touch screens add to the presentation, while the film at the end of the exhibition offers a visual reinforcer for your trip.
