At Orient Bay, adventure seekers can go parasailing, jet skiing or windsurfing. Take an exciting day trip to one of the deserted beaches on the undeveloped part of the island, where you cannot sunbathe. Orient Bay Beach is located on the French side of the East Island. It is long and wide, with restaurants and cafes offering sun loungers and umbrellas. This is the party side of the island, but it also has beautiful beaches, fantastic water sports and a wider selection of hotels than the French side. The French side of the island is known for its nudist beaches, fashion, shopping (including open-air markets) and high-quality French and Indian Caribbean cuisine. Saint-Martin / Saint-Martin is small enough to allow you to easily visit some of the best beaches, take a small adventure and taste the island’s delicacies while cruising in the Saint-Martin harbour. Saint Martin-Saint Martin has thirty-seven of the most beautiful beaches, some of which must be visited. Maho Beach, located at the very end of Princess Juliana International Airport, is one of the most popular beaches in Sint Maarten because there is no beach like anywhere else in the world. No visit to Saint Martin is complete without stopping at the famous Maho Beach to experience the low-landing plane and of course the iconic photograph. Visit the airport website before heading to the beach and check daily arrivals to find out when the biggest planes are landing. This beautiful Caribbean Cayes beach can be reached by boat or via the Frossard Trail. Although it is the smallest beach on the island, it is a gem for many couples. If you are going to Saint Martin with your spouse, plan to spend a romantic time at Lovers Beach. Other must-see beaches are Mallet Bay, Happy Bay, Orient Bay, Grand Case Bay, Grand Bay, Simpson Bay, Golden Sands, Little Bay and Lover's Beach. Most of the tours that run around the island stop at various beaches and cliffs. One of our favourites is the Eco Tour, a full-day catamaran that sails around Saint Pinel Island, a little slice of paradise with fantastic snorkelling on a short kayak trip from Cul de Sac on the French side of Saint Martin. Although not on Saint Martin, visiting Pinel Island is a popular destination for many visitors to Saint Martin. A trip to Saint-Martin / Saint-Martin would not be complete without a visit to the beautiful island of Pinel. Take the ferry to a popular destination for locals to spend the day kayaking, eat and drink at the island's three beach bars, or laze on the sand. If you need a break from all those white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters, head inland to Lottery Farm on the French side of the island. Enjoy views of the small French town of Marigot, its harbour and the island of Anguilla from the ruins of Louis Fort at the top of the hill. It is less than half a square mile and one of the cleanest beaches I have ever seen. About two miles off the French coast of Saint Martin is the uninhabited island of Tintamar, also known as Flat Island. It is part of the Leeward Islands and includes two different countries; the northern part of France is called Saint-Martin, and the southern part of the Netherlands is called Sint-Maarten.
