From the hand of a local host, you will learn how from the arrival of the Swiss settlers, and some Germans from 1861, the history of the Uruguayan cheese factory began to be written, which was born in nothing more and nothing less than in what is now called Nueva Helvecia or also the Swiss Colony. 

In this area, the birthplace of cheese par excellence, you can discover and learn the fascinating world of artisanal cheese making.
Here you will learn about the entire current production process, discovering interesting stories from yesteryear and the cheese process from its beginnings in the country with the arrival of the first Swiss and Germans, to the present day when family traditions of more than a century are still maintained.

We will look for you at the reception of your hotel or at the arrival of your ferry, either to take your private transfer or to accompany you to take your public transportation.

During the guided tour, you will learn inside the history of the place and the importance of artisanal cheesemaking throughout the region.

You will be able to appreciate and learn about the operation of the place, its products and the way it works, visiting the facilities of the cheese factory and the dairy, going through the different processes until you reach a traditional cheese made by hand.
