1-Day Best of Mabamba Shoebill Tour and Birding Experience

This 1-Day tour is the best to do bird watching in Uganda with the main attraction being the amazing shoebill stork at Mabamba but so many other bird species to look out for.
Best in the early morning, you will meet your guide at a preferred pick/drop-off location in Kampala or Entebbe and transfer to Nakiwogo Landing Site by 7 am. From here embark onto a boat to Mabamba Swamp. Mabamba Swamp is the best place to sight the Shoebill stork in Uganda.

Mabamba swamp wetland accessed by a canoe ride is located on North West of the Entebbe Peninsular, along the edge of Lake Victoria; the wetland is a sanctuary for over 260 bird species. Mabamba Swamp; a Ramsar Site, got its name from the local fishermen due to a huge quantity of lungfish “Mamba”, the most sought-after fish by fishermen as well as a favourite food for the shoebill.

In addition to the most sought-after Shoebill Stork, the other bird species to expect while on this day's best of the Mabamba shoebill tour and Uganda birding tour are: Blue swallow, Pallid harrier, Papyrus Gonolek, Swamp flycatcher, Pigmy goose, Lesser jacana, White-winged warbler, Viellot’s weaver, Grosbeak weaver, Black-headed weaver, Clarke’s weaver, Palm-nut vulture, Papyrus canary, African Green Pigeon, African Jacana etc.
