Arusha - Materuni waterfall
We shall pick you up from any hotel in Arusha town to Materuni waterfall. The waterfall is the highest and most impressive waterfall at the foothill of Mt. Kilimanjaro with a height of about 150m. You’ll visit a coffee farm and learn about how coffee is grown, harvested and processed, and you’ll try your hand at roasting and preparing a fresh cup of coffee the Chagga way. After coffee tour and test you’ll take a beautiful 30 minutes hike through the hills and valleys en route to the Materuni. The valleys and hills are covered by tropical rainforest, coffee, banana and avocado “shambas”, the Kiswahili word for farms. On a clear day great view of Kibo and Moshi town can be seen during hiking. The hike to the base of the Waterfall can be demanding and hiking boots are recommended. Finally, you can refresh at the waterfall’s cold water, so don’t forget to bring your swim wear.

After waterfalls tour, you will proceed to to Chemka Hot Springs. Chemka Hot Springs is an oasis of geothermal warmth that bubbles up from underground. The pond can be very deep, in some places up to 10 meters, but the water is so clear that you can easily see the bottom of the pond. Regardless to its name, water in the hot springs is warm and quite refreshing and this is the one place where swimsuit is a must.

We will provide you with a lunch box and a bottle of water. Eat your lunch in the shade of the trees or, if you’re a sun bunny, find a hot spot all your own. You’ve plenty of time to spot the wildlife that also enjoy the Chemka Hot Springs and return to Arusha refreshed, revitalized and relaxed after your amazing day tour at the hot spring.
