Experience the true local Zanzibarian life: dress in traditional clothes, travel by public daladala car, learn how to bargain prices on the market, cook a meal with a local family and visit a school.
We invite you to see Zanzibar from our eyes. With us you will learn everything about the Zanzibarian culture, it's dresses, foods, customs, traditions and even a few words of Swahili.
First we will dress you in traditional Zanzibarian clothes. Women get dressed in colorful clothes called Kangas with Swahili proverbs written on them, men will be given a Kanzu (a white dress) and a Zanzibari hat.
Dressed like Zanzibarians, you will buy food at a local market, and at the same time learn how to bargain the prices. We will use public transport called daladala to go to the market and back home. The word daladala comes from dollar because it costs less than one dollar to use the public transport anywhere.
Then you will cook with a local family using a local stove with firewood, and enjoy your meal with your hosts.
Then you can take a tour through the village and also visit a school, where you can talk with students.
The tour will start at the Kijitoupele Police Station and is a full day tour.

The tour generally starts at 9 AM and ends at 4 PM, but we can also change according your schedule preferences.
Meeting point is Kijitoupele Police Station. If you want us to explain to your taxi driver where it is, call us. Or text us on WhatsApp or Telegram and we send you the location. Look for a tour guide wearing a colored t-shirt with STRAIGHT TRAINING CENTER written on the back.
Additional $10-20 per person for food ingredients to be paid in cash
Wearing traditional Zanzibarian clothes is part of the experience, we will provide these, but also we ask you to arrive in appropiate clothes because we are in a very local part of the village, so make sure your shirt covers your shoulders.
