الوصف

Discover Colombo uniquely on a private tuk-tuk tour. Visit top landmarks like the Old Town Hall, Independence Hall, and the Temple of Sri Kailawasanathan Swami Devasthanam Kovil.
Experience Colombo’s pulse on a private half-day tuk-tuk tour. Choose a morning or late-afternoon trip and hop into a nimble 3-wheeler with your driver-guide. Zip to Pettah and Galle Face Green, and explore temples, markets, and colonial landmarks. Admissions are at your expense.

Start at the Temple of Sri Kailawasanathan Swami Devasthanam Kovil, built in the late 1700s. Once an island in Beira Lake, devotees traveled by boat to worship. The Gopurams reflect deities Shiva and Ganesh, and the interiors are adorned with Hindu sculptures and motifs.

Visit the Jami-Alfar Mosque on 2nd Cross Street, known for its red and white candy-striped design. Built in 1908, it's a striking landmark. Women may enter the washing ponds area, but not the prayer halls. The mosque is expanding to accommodate up to 8,000 worshippers but will retain its façade. Avoid Fridays due to crowds.

Explore Pettah, a bustling commercial area with open-air bazaars and markets. The main market is like a gigantic crossword puzzle, making it easy to get lost in its labyrinth of shops.

Stop by the Old Town Hall in Pettah, an old building with arches, needle-point columns, and a random museum next door. The caretaker may take you upstairs to see the musty museum filled with old items.

Visit the Independence Memorial Hall, designed by Tom Neville Wynne-Jones. Built entirely out of reinforced concrete, it was inspired by the ancient audience hall in Kandy and symbolizes Sri Lanka's freedom.

Pass Viharamahadevi Park, formerly Victoria Park, known for its War Memorial, Colombo Public Library, and elephants often seen bathing or eating. Elephants featured in the Gangaramaya Perahera depart from here.

See the Cargills Department Store, established in 1844. It began as 'Milne & Company' and evolved into 'Cargill & Co' with branches in Kandy and Galle.

Pass Galle Face Green, a popular leisure ground in colonial times. Today, it remains a social hub where cricket, football, polo, and horse races once took place.

Visit the Colombo Galbokka Lighthouse, built in 1952. Offering panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, it is a city landmark. Public access is restricted due to its location in a high-security zone.

Pass the Colombo Fort Old Lighthouse & Clock Tower, built in 1856-57. The tower was the tallest structure in Colombo and was designed by Emily Elizabeth Ward.

See the President's House, the official residence of Sri Lanka's President, located on Janadhipathi Mawatha. It has been the residence of British governors and Sri Lankan presidents since 1804.

Stop at the Manning Market, Colombo's wholesale fruit and vegetable center, filled with local produce.

Visit Kayman's Gate, an entrance to the former Colombo Fort, with a historic bell tower at the intersection of Main and 4th Cross Streets.

Discover Colombo's colonial and modern skyline, featuring some of the city's largest, oldest, and newest buildings.
