In this tour, we are aiming to be in the YALA National Park at dawn or dusk. These are two of the best times of the day, which gives you the highest chance of spotting the elusive Sri Lankan leopards, which is a leopard subspecies native to Sri Lanka. With approximately a hundred individual leopards, YALA is recognized as the National Park with the highest leopard density in the world.

What happens on a typical day on safari?

A. Pick-up time at 2.30 a.m. - in and around the Kosgoda/ Ahungalla/ Balapitiya/ Ambalangoda/ Akurala Beach area. All pick up times - (Morning Safari - 2.30 a.m./ 3.00 a.m./ 3.30 a.m./ 4.00 a.m./ 4.30 a.m./ 5.00 a.m./ Afternoon Safari - 9.30 a.m./ 10.00 a.m.)
Earliest two times in the Morning Safari (2.30 a.m. & 3.00 a.m.) are the most recommended. Adjust the times in the itinerary according to the pickup time you select.

B. Get down from the transfer vehicle (Air-conditioned Car or minivan) and get into the Safari vehicle - at Tissamaharama at around 5.30 a.m.
You can leave your luggage in the Taxi while you are going on the Safari.
Here, there's 1 hour break in Afternoon Safari for you to have lunch.

C. Morning Wildlife Safari/ 1st Game Drive (Starting at 6.00 a.m.)

D. Break at Patanangala Beach in YALA National Park (20-30 minutes)
This will give you time to enjoy your breakfast

E. Morning Wildlife Safari/ 2nd Game Drive (Ending at around 9.30 a.m.)

F. Get down from the safari vehicle and get into the transfer vehicle - at Tissamaharama at around 10.00 a.m.

G. Optional - Break Near Rawana-Ella waterfall, on the way to Ella (Free of charge)

H. Drop-off in Ella/ Bandarawela area at around 12.00 p.m.
