Visit Torun, one of Poland's oldest cities and the birthplace of the great Polish astronomer, Nicolaus Copernicus. The city’s medieval Old Town was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.
Take a trip to the UNESCO heritage site of Torun, considered by many to be the best example of a medieval Gothic town and one of Poland’s oldest cities.
Torun was the birthplace of great Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, who is credited with the discovery that our earth is not at the center of the universe.
During the guided walk through the old town see the Copernicus House and the Cathedral with its bell tower that offers splendid view over the city.
After touring the Old Town, spend your time to hunt for souvenirs! You might want to sample the local gingerbread, which is a specialty of Torun, made according to old recipes and methods that date to the 16th century.
