Embark on a 4-day trek from Cusco to Machu Picchu, trekking through diverse landscapes and culminating in a guided tour of the ancient ruins.
Day 1:
Embark on your Machu Picchu trekking adventure today! Begin with a 4:30 am pickup from your Cusco hotel. After a scenic drive to Mollepata for breakfast, continue to Challacancha (3,380 meters/11,090 feet), the starting point of our hike. Traverse picturesque valleys and reach Soraypampa campsite (3,900 meters/12,800 feet) by 1:30 pm for a relaxing lunch. Later, hike 1.5 hours to the stunning Humantay Lagoon (4,220 meters/13,850 feet), with its mesmerizing blue-green waters and backdrop of snowy peaks. Return to Soraypampa for dinner and overnight in cozy glass cabins by 6:00 pm.
Day 2:
After a hearty breakfast at 5:00 am, we start our trek from Soraypampa, ascending for 4 hours to reach the majestic Salkantay Pass at 4,650 meters (15,250 feet). Enjoy breathtaking views of Salkantay, Humantay, Tucarhuay, and Pumasillo peaks. We'll visit historical sites like Salkantay-Pampa and Soyroq’ocha, performing a ceremonial offering with coca leaves to honor Pachamama and the Apus. Descending through the Andes, we discover a serene lake before reaching Huayrac-Pampa for lunch. Continuing downhill for 3 hours, we arrive at our campsite at 2,900 meters (9,500 feet), where tea, dinner, and rest in comfortable domes await.
Day 3:
After a rejuvenating night’s sleep and a nourishing breakfast, we start day 3 of our Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu with a delicious breakfast. We begin our 5 ½ hours hike through the Peruvian jungle, passing over many ascents and descents. This part of the trek marks the cloud forest, where we will discover several coffee, banana and avocado plantations, orchids and many natural plants used for medicines. We will arrive at our lunch point to rest a little, and shortly after take our transportation towards Hidroeléctrica. We will walk for around 3 hours towards Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, we will enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant in the village on the bottom of the magnificent Wonder of the World. Tonight, we will be staying at a hotel overnight.
Day 4:
Today, we'll rise early to explore Machu Picchu, the famed Lost City of the Incas, renowned for its intricate architecture and historical significance. After a guided tour, you'll have free time to wander and capture the magic of this UNESCO World Heritage site. Those climbing Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain will do so in designated time slots. Later, we'll return to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included), before boarding the train to Ollantaytambo. Enjoy the scenic journey through the Sacred Valley before concluding our adventure in Cusco's Plaza Regocijo.
