From Arequipa: Sillar Route - Half Day Tour

Walk and explore the formations and engravings found in this stone town, a walk through the so-called White City! A few kilometres from Arequipa you will discover a city of quarries.
Itinerary :
We will pick you up from your accommodation in Arequipa early in the morning and head towards the Ruta del Sillar, one of the most historic routes of our country Peru. Our first stop will be a viewpoint to appreciate a beautiful view of the volcanoes that surround Arequipa, and then we will continue our tour. We will stop at the Añashuayco Quarry, where we will be able to observe how the local masons work the stone and learn about the carving process. In addition, at this point we will admire the immense canyon of cliffs, this because of the extraction of the material for the formation of the ashlars. We will leave the Añashuayco Quarry, and after about 30 minutes we will find the Quebrada de Culebrillas. The water canyon will invite us to admire its walls of up to 20 metres high, and we will enter it for a walk of about 20 minutes. Our last stop on the Sillar Route will be at the canyon's petroglyphs, figures carved into the stone whose meaning is unknown. Finally we will return to Arequipa at 13:00 hours, where we will finish our excursion.
