The Sillar Route stands out for its volcanic stone quarries, essential in Arequipa's architecture, and offers views of stone carvings and impressive natural landscapes.
The tour begins with hotel pick-up and, once everyone is in mobility, we will start the Sillar Route, leaving the city towards the Añashuayco quarry. There, the tour guide will provide detailed explanations about the extraction process of sillar, a volcanic stone fundamental in the construction of many emblematic buildings around Arequipa's main square.
After exploring Añashuayco, we will head to the Culebrillas ravine. Here, we will enjoy a hike of approximately 20 minutes through a small canyon shaped by water erosion, which offers breathtaking views of unique rock formations and a serene natural environment.
Along the way, we will also have the opportunity to see and photograph ancient petroglyphs carved into the rocks, offering fascinating insights into local history and culture. Finally, we will return to Arequipa to conclude the excursion, with a better understanding of the influence of the sillar stone on the city's architecture and the natural beauty that surrounds it.
