Immerse yourself in Peru's ancestral history by exploring Chavín de Huantar, a fascinating testimony to the country's earliest cultures and the epicenter of the Chavín civilization. Our journey begins with a scenic drive through the picturesque villages south of Huaraz, such as Recuay, Ticapampa and Catac, before heading into the imposing mountains of the Cordillera Blanca. As we ascend, we make a brief stop at the dazzling Querococha Lagoon, at 3900 meters above sea level, to marvel at its natural beauty and take some memorable photos. We continue our journey up to the Cahuish pass, where we cross into the picturesque valley of Callejón de Conchucos, immersing ourselves in unforgettable mountain scenery.
Finally, we arrive in Chavín, where the majestic archaeological complex of Chavín de Huantar awaits us. Here, we will explore its impressive structures, such as the Plaza Cuadrada, the Plaza Circular, El Castillo and Los Laberintos, while marveling at the masterpiece of the Chavín culture, the famous Lanzón. In addition, we will visit the Chavin Museum, located just 1 km from the city, to further immerse ourselves in the rich history and fascinating traditions of this ancient civilization.After enjoying a delicious lunch in Chavin and strolling through its charming streets, we say goodbye to this land of millenary legacy and embark on our return to Huaraz, taking with us the knowledge and admiration for the Great First High Andean Culture in Peru.
