Start your tour in the Ancash region, 434 kilometers (270 mi) north of Lima, at an elevation of 3,180 meters (10,430 ft), east of the Cordillera Blanca at the start of the Conchucos Valley.
Discover the Chavín culture, a major pre-Inca culture that occupied the site from around 1200 BC to 500 BC. See the massive flat-topped platform of the temple, which was the religious center of the Chavín people and the political capital.
