DAY 1 CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMPA – HUMANTAY LAGOON
Our guide will pick you up in Cusco at 4:30 am. We will drive with the group to Mollepata, where we will have a nutritious breakfast. We will then drive another hour to Challacancha, the starting point of our hike. After a three-hour hike, we will arrive at our camp in Soraypampa at approximately 1:30 pm. We will have time to relax and enjoy a delicious lunch.
Later, we will finally visit the famous Humantay Lagoon. We will take some time to admire the stunning views and then descend to our camp in Soraypampa.
DAY 2 SORAYMAPA – SALKANTAY PASS – COLLPAPAMPA
At 5:00 am we will enjoy a great breakfast. Starting our hike from Soraypampa, we will ascend for 3 hours to the highest point of Abra Salkantay. Then we will begin our descent towards Huarachmachhay for 3 hours. There, we will have lunch and then continue our descent for 3 more hours until we reach our camp in Collpapampa.
DAY 3 COLLPAPAMPA – LUCMABAMBA
We begin our 5 ½ hour hike through the Peruvian jungle. We will arrive at our lunch point to rest a little and where we will take the coffee tour.
Here you have the option of visiting the thermal baths located in Cocalmayo, Santa Teresa (not included). We will return to our camp at 6:00 pm for tea and a freshly prepared dinner.
DAY 4 LUCMABAMBA - LLACTAPATA – HYDROELECTRIC – HOT WATERS
We will have breakfast. We will walk the Inca Trail, enjoying the beautiful views of the Santa Teresa Valley. After a 2.5 climb, we will arrive at the Inca archaeological site of Llactapata. We will go down for lunch and then continue our walk to Hidroeléctrica. You can choose to walk to Aguas Calientes for around 3 hours, or choose to board a train for an additional $38.00. Upon arriving in Aguas Calientes, we will enjoy a delicious dinner.
Day 5 of Salkantay: MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
We will get up early in the morning around 4.30 am to prepare breakfast, then we will start walking to Machu Picchu, it takes approximately 1:30 minutes; 30 minutes walking to the Puente Ruinas checkpoint where you will have to show your original passports + Machu Picchu tickets, approximately one hour to reach the main gate of Machu Picchu at 6:00 am. There is the option to travel by bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu, which takes approximately 30 minutes (12 USD).
Once in Machu Picchu, your guide will take you directly to the best vantage point to take the classic Machu Picchu photo. Your local guide will then show you the main sectors of the citadel for a total of 2.5 hours.
After the visit you will return to the town of Aguas Calientes and take the train back to Ollantaytambo from where you will be transferred to Cusco.
