New Zealand: Guided 17-Day North Island Tour with Camping

Experience the North Island's cultural wonders on this 17 day guided camping tour through Rotorua, 'Hobbiton', Mt Maunganui, the Coromandel Peninsula, the Bay of Islands, Cape Reinga, & 'Tane Mahuta'.
This immersive 17 day guided small group camping tour starts in the fascinating geothermal and cultural region of Rotorua. After enjoying a night in this town that is famous for Maori haka, singing, dancing and feasting, we drive a short distance to the delightful Hobbiton movie set and join a tour of this enchanting little 'village'. Regardless of whether you are a Lord Of The Rings fan or not, this experience will no doubt be one of the highlights of the trip.

Later, we pitch our ZigZag tents right next to the beach in the surfing mecca of Mount Maunganui for two nights, before weaving our way up through the stunning forests, soaring mountains and pristine bays of the Coromandel Peninsula.

Crossing over into the 'winterless' Northland district, we spend time at gorgeous Mangawhai Heads and in the spectacular Bay of Islands, before venturing up into New Zealand's 'Far North' region for more pristine beaches, a 'desert' with some enormous sand dunes, and an iconic lighthouse where two oceans crash together.

Wrapping up our adventure, we head back down to Auckland, but not before visiting the largest, oldest tree in the country, the majestic 'Tane Mahuta', and spending an evening looking for wild Kiwi birds in amongst a mighty kauri forest.
