Lake Magadi

Lake Magadi is a uniquely captivating and visually striking soda lake situated in the southern part of Kenya's Rift Valley.
With its high alkalinity and salinity levels, Lake Magadi supports the growth of blue-green algae, which, in turn, attracts a vibrant population of flamingos that paint the lake's surface with hues of pink during certain seasons. The surreal landscape is accentuated by the presence of vast salt flats and crystalline formations along the shoreline, evoking an almost extraterrestrial ambiance. Beyond its stunning visual appeal, Lake Magadi holds cultural significance as well, with local communities drawing upon its mineral resources and engaging in traditional salt harvesting practices. For adventurers and nature enthusiasts, Lake Magadi presents a unique opportunity to witness the fascinating interplay between geology, wildlife, and human interaction within a truly mesmerizing and remote setting. We move on to Lake Magadi after taking a guided tour of the location and learning about the area’s former residents. through the Magadi Soda factory and through the village of Magadi. We enter the Lake Magadi reserve area before moving on to the hot springs, where we stop for lunch and, if the weather is not too hot, wade in the hot, alkaline water springs and sit in the water to relax. Your skin feels so soft and smooth afterward, but as soon as it dries, you turn a chalky white color. For a cultural encounter, we meet a local Masai guide and Masai people who often swim in the lake. Return to Nairobi in the afternoon.
