3-Day Taita Hills-Tsavo West safari staying at Saltlick

Embark on a 3-day safari from Nairobi to the Taita Hills Game Sanctuary. See the beautiful scenery of the Taita Hills as you climb up to Salt Lick from Voi town. Enjoy a game drive in the sanctuary and see all the big cats and other grazers.

Day 1: Nairobi to Salt Lick
Start your safari with a pick-up from your hotel or the airport in Nairobi. Drive to Tsavo West National Park at 6:00 AM and drive through the Nairobi-Mombasa Road. The journey takes you through lovely sceneries in the eastern part of Kenya, sight-seeing wild animals on the way and the different cultural setting of the community around.

After a 5-hour drive, arrive at Voi town, where you will branch and head straight to the Tsavo West National Park main gate. Do a game drive en route to the Taita Hills Resort and Spa for lunch. After lunch, drive and arrive at the famous Saltlick Safari Lodge, check in, and then depart for a game viewing drive. Return back to the lodge for a sumptuous buffet dinner with a stunning view overlooking the floodlit waterhole, which gives you a close range view of the animals.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drive in Taita Hills Game Sanctuary
Spend the whole day exploring the vast Taita Hills Game Sanctuary. This private sanctuary is located right next to Tsavo West, so it’s an easy hop to get here. The landscape in this park is more verdant than Tsavo, and the game viewing is every bit as good. The sanctuary offers good bird watching but that isn’t Taita Hills’ main attraction. A unique aspect of this small park is the rangers here usually have a very good idea where the larger animals can be found. It’s not unheard of for safari-goers to spot over a dozen species on a game drive.

Day 3: Depart Salt Lick to Nairobi/Mombasa
After an early morning breakfast at 7:00 AM, embark on an en-route game drive as you catch a glimpse of the sunrise on your way back to Nairobi. Thereafter commence your drive to Nairobi. A simple complimentary lunch will be provided on the way in a traveler’s motel. On arrival, you will be dropped at your Nairobi hotel.
