Join me on this trip through the colourful alleys and traditional houses as we take a deep dive into one of the most beautiful and oldest neighbourhoods of Thessaloniki (also my favourite!).
We are going to start our adventure at Aristotelous square and make our way upwards while discovering all the important buildings, such as the church of Saint Dimitrios- who is the protector of Thessaloniki- and an early Christian significant monument,both for religious and historical reasons.
•Unfold the history of rebetiko, the greek urban folk music that was born in the harbours, at the traditional Tsinari tavern!
•Visit the tomb of Musa Baba and hear about the urban chilling myth!
•Everyone knows the blockhouse at the top which offers a breathtaking view. But who knows about the only one of the Byzantine monasteries that has survived to this day!
• Discover the secret alley where there is a portal to a parallel world as the locals say.
There is no better way to end this experience than drinking Greek coffee at a small neighbourhood cafè.
This tour is perfect not only for people who like history but also for those who want to see something different in Thessaloniki!
