الوصف
If you a nature lover, this your tour. This garden offers you a rare peep into one of the largest assembly of tropical plants for medicinal and spicing purposes. Also get a bird-eye view of Accra.
Just a little over 30kms north of Accra is the cozy and serene town of Aburi. It is home to the largest and the most popular garden arguably in West Africa. The Aburi Botanical Garden as it is popularly called was established by the British in 1890 as a sanitarium. Found here are thousands of tropical plants some of which were planted by world leaders. These include 1924 Queen Elizabeth II, Mahogany, 1961 President Pal Losones of Hungary, Cedar, 1961 President Nocale Ceausescus of Romania, Cedar, 1977 Prince Charles of Britain, Silver Oak, etc. Take a tour of this beautiful garden to learn more about it.
Nearby is the Mampong Tetteh Quarshie farm dating back to 1879. It stands as the oldest cocoa farm in Ghana thanks to this blacksmith from Osu Accra who returned to Ghana from Fernando Po three years earlier with the cocoa pods. See some of the original trees and learn more about cocoa processing with a tour to this farm.
On the return you can shop for crafts at the Aburi Craft market before being dropped-off back at your hotel.
