Discover the highlights of Bonn in the footsteps of Beethoven. Visit the Beethoven House and other attractions. You’ll also spy famous landmarks such as the Altes Rathaus and the University of Bonn.
Start your tour at the Beethoven-Denkmal. Here you will see a large bronze statue of Ludwig van Beethoven which stands on the Münsterplatz. It was created on the 75th birth anniversary of the legend. The people from “circles interested in music” donated for this memorial.

Next you will see the Beethoven Sculpture - The “Beethon” which was sculpted by Klaus Kammerichs in 1986. This was created from the best known portrait ever of Beethoven which was painted in 1819 by Karl Josef Stieler. The sculpture was named “Beethon” meaning concrete.

You will see the Chamber Music Hall, The tent- like shape and centrally positioned podium for musicians presents the multifarious artistic activities of the members of the orchestra. This “Chamber Music Hall Hermann J. Abs” was opened to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Beethoven in 1989.

Get to see the Main University Building. This building depicts the court theater, painted by the artist François Rousseau which was built around 1750.

Visit the Beethoven House where the first four years of Ludwig van Beethoven were spent. Here, you will see the house which now serves as a museum and cultural institution and is considered as a memorial site.

Next, you will see the St. Remigius Parish Church. The construction of the church began in 1272 by the Franciscan Order (Order of Friars Minor) and was completed in 1307. This is where Beethoven played the organ at 6 a.m. in the morning service.

As we continue, you will see the Palace Church where Ludwig was given the organ training of the organ by the composer Christian Gottlob Neefe.

You will visit the Former Zehrgarten. Here, Ludwig enjoyed interacting with musicians and students from other courts in the renowned “Zehrgarten '' of widow Koch. He peculiarly admired his daughter Babette.

Continue on to the Beethoven Hall - Also known as “Beethovenhalle”. It was designed by the architect Siegfried Wolske in 1959. During world war II, the hall was destroyed but later rebuilt.

You will come across the Alter Friedhof, grave of Beethoven’s mother - A historical cemetery having some most notable burials and monuments.

Next, you will walk by the Monastery School - Ludwig visited the public Latin school which was held by St. Cassius Minster. On the south side of the cloisters at Bonn Minster, he studied grammar, rhetoric and logic.

You will see Dreieck which was the second house for Ludwig and his family. It was earlier known as No. 210 Dreieck. His brother Kaspar Anton Karl was born here in April 1774 who later also followed Ludwig to become a musician in Vienna, 1794.

Walk by the Lippesches Palais. In the year 1780, according to master baker Gottfried Fisher, Ludwig usually spent some time at the palace in Oberkassel.

Finally, you will visit the Former Breuningsches Haus - This was formerly the house of the Privy Councillor von Breuning of the German Order of Knights. In 1777, he lost his life in the fire at the electoral prince’s palace.
