Spend 19 days exploring the northern region of Ethiopia, including the Christmas celebrations in Lalibela and the Timkat festival in Gondar. Trek through the Simien Mountains, visit the rock-hewn churches of Tigray, and see the active volcano of Erta Ale.

Day 1: Fly from Addis Ababa to Lalibela. After lunch, visit the Northwestern Cluster of churches, including Bet Medhane Alem, Bet Maryam, Bet Meskel, Bet Danaghel, Bet Mikael, and Bet Golgotha. Continue to the Southeastern Cluster of churches, including Bet Gabriel-Rufael, Bet Merkorios, Bet Amanual, and Bet Abba Libanos. Finally, visit the most famous of all the churches, Bet Giyorgis. In the evening, visit the local culture community.

Day 2: Fly from Lalibela to Gondar. In the afternoon, witness the colorful processions of the eve of Ethiopian Epiphany. See the replicas of the original Ark (Tabots) from different churches being carried by priests under huge, colorful umbrellas. Deacons also carry processional crosses, religious paintings, and bells. Sing, dance, and ululate with the priests all the way to the place where the Tabots are supposed to make their overnight stay.

Day 3: Visit the remaining sites of Gondar, including the beautiful Debre Berhan Selassie church. Witness the sprinkling of the blessed holy water in remembrance of the baptism of Jesus Christ in the river Jordan in the hands of John the Baptist.

Day 4: Drive from Gondar to Debark to the Simien Mountains National Park. Trek to Sankaber and enjoy a panoramic view of the mountain chains.

Day 5: Trek from Sankaber to Geech camp, passing through Geech village.

Day 6: Trek from Geech to Chenek camp, visiting Imet Gogo for 360-degree views of canyons.

Day 7: Trek from Chenek to Buhait Pass. Drive back to Debark and have lunch. Drive to Axum via Hawzien and overnight in Axum.

Day 8: Visit Axum, including the famous stelae, the Queen of Sheba's Palace, and the Church of St. Mary of Zion.

Day 9: Trek to Sagren and drive to Adigrat, exploring the monastery of Debre Damo and Yeha Temple on the way.

Day 10: Trek to Siheta community and overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 11: Trek to Guahgot and overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 12: Trek to Shimbreiti and overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 13: Trek to Nahiso Terara with local villages.

Day 14: Visit the Gheralta Churches, the beautiful tunnel, and a rock church. Overnight in tents on the top of a mountain with local monks.

Day 15: Visit the Abune Yemata Guh rock church and the Abune Gebremicael rock church. Drive to Mekele and overnight.

Day 16: Drive to Dallol and visit the colorful geothermal fields and salt formations. Visit the Afar region and overnight in a camp.

Day 17: Visit the Dallol and Lake Afdera. Drive to Erta Ale and begin the trek to the active volcano for a night-time view.

Day 18: Visit the volcano with sunrise and drive to Semira. Fly back to Addis Ababa.
