This is a guided visit inside the Egyptian temple of Debod; the only original vestige of Egypt in Madrid where you will travel back in time.
It is a guided visit to the Egyptian temple of Debod in which we can see not only the ins and outs of the original temple, but also a miniature exhibition of Egyptian temples along the Nile River. It is spectacular to see it both inside and out. It was set up in the West Park in 1972 and was brought block by block from Nubia to Alexandria (northern Egypt) and from there, across the Mediterranean Sea to Valencia. From the city of the Turia it was brought in trucks to Madrid, in one of the best panoramic views of the Parque del Oeste, where the Cuartel de la Montaña (destroyed during the Spanish Civil War) was originally located.
First, we will explain the reason for the transfer from Egypt, as well as its connection with art and history. Secondly, we will visit the inside of the temple in about half an hour and explain the curiosities and the original location of the temple, as well as its current architectural layout.
After leaving the temple, we will take a short guided visit to the Madrid de los Austrias, ending at the Plaza Mayor.
