This half-day horseback excursion includes approximately 2 hours of riding throughout the mountain range just above Puerto Plata. Approximately 1000 ft above the city, there are breathtaking views over the Bay of Silver where, centuries ago, Columbus arrived by ship.
Firstly, you will travel by safari truck to the old mountain road connecting Puerto Plata with Santiago, which slowly climbs up the mountains, dotted with small local farms and amber and larimar mines. There is also an abundance of coconut palms, sparkling rivers, and tropical flowers.
Stepping off the truck, you'll find the horses saddled up ready to take you gently through lush green fields, river beds, and small streams. You will smell, feel, and be immersed in a natural setting outside of the fast pace of life in the big city.
After the tour ends, you will be dropped back at your hotel.
