The Botanical and Zoological Foundation of Barranquilla manages since 1993 the Barranquilla Zoo, which opened its doors in 1953 becoming the oldest in Colombia, and has animal environments organized in representations of ecosystems or geographic regions, making a visit to it an ideal for education, highlighting the importance of biodiversity.
In this context, the Zoo is home to nearly 800 animals of 130 native and exotic species, set with more than 60 species of trees and 80 species of ornamental plants, making it the green place par excellence in the city for the more than 200,000 visitors it receives annually.
