Discover Heinfels Castle on an exciting night-time tour and delve deep into the history of the medieval complex.
Heinfels Castle is the largest fortress in the Pustertal Valley. Construction of the mighty castle began as early as 1210 and it was the seat of the local administration for more than 500 years. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the castle fell into disrepair and it was not until 2016 that the restoration of the complex began. Heinfels Castle, also known as the "Queen of the puster valley", has been open to the public again since 2020.
On our night-time tour of the castle, we hear and see many stories about the historic complex. Our guide takes us through the halls and chambers and together we delve deep into the history of the medieval castle. The highlight of the tour is the 13th century St. Laurentius Chapel with its frescoes and new architectural elements.
The tour begins with a prosecco reception in the visitor center and ends after about 1.5 hours at the highest point of the castle, the keep.
