Namibia
Visiting Namibia means experiencing a land of vast blue skies, endless horizons, incredible sand dunes, a rugged yet beautiful coastline, and a landscape full of nature reserves. From bustling cities to impossibly vast deserts and beautiful mountain ranges, this is a place you should consider visiting while in the Southern Hemisphere of Africa. The visit is a truly authentic experience and one of the best places in Namibia to meet.
Namibia's main attraction is in the northern part of the country and is full of wildlife and adventure. Etosha is in the northwest of Namibia and is known for its rich wildlife. Etosha National Park, the second largest game reserve in Namibia after the Waterberg Plateau Park, surrounds the vast Etosha Salt Flats. Much of the Waterberg Plateau Park is made up of red sand dunes, a shifting landscape that must be seen to be believed.
The best-known area of the park is Sossusvlei, Namibia's most famous stretch of sand, where giant dunes rise over three hundred meters (1,000 feet) above the ground. With towering bright red sand dunes created by the elements, Sossusvlei is one of the most beautiful and impressive places you must visit in Namibia (and that is really saying something). Sossusvlei is one of Africa's natural wonders, the contrasts of red dunes against clear blue skies make this a paradise especially for photographers. A great year-round destination, the Sossusvlei dunes are Namibia’s most spectacular and best-known attraction.
In the 1980s, De Beer turned the desert into a museum, and it is now one of the most photographed places in Namibia. Today, changing desert dunes and palatial dunes intertwine with abandoned buildings, making Kolmanskop an eerie place in Namibia.
Dune 45 is not the tallest dune in the Namib Desert, but it is the most popular due to its location close to the road and is often the most popular attraction in Namibia. You can also find Namibia's tallest dune (1256 feet), Dune 7, near Swakopmund and Walvis Bay. In Namibia, there is a huge clay disc in the middle of the park, and you can drive your car into a designated area of this huge white clearing.
